    1. Hi Ralph, no, stanzas are not a factor in Greek and Roman dactylic hexameter. Each hexameter line has the same basic metrical composition, which means that lines cannot be grouped together metrically. Rhyme is not a deciding feature of ancient poetry, so lines cannot be grouped by rhyming schemes, either. In short, there isn’t any way for stanzas to be distinguished in dactylic hexameter. We simply have verse after verse, all flowing together in a unified whole.
